"Mental Health Right On!"
Public Exhibition

"Will having a mental health condition affect my chances of getting a job?"
"Do I have to disclose my diagnosis to my employer?"
Many people have wrestled with questions like these. Whether you are entering the workforce, supporting a colleague, working in Human Resources, or leading an organisation, understanding mental health rights in the workplace matters.
As the capstone project of the first Advanced Mental Health Advocacy Training, 11 ambassadors with lived and caregiving experience co-curated Mental Health Right On! together with StoryTaler's mentors.
The exhibition invites visitors to explore the realities of entering the workplace while navigating mental health challenges. Through stories, interactive experiences and public dialogue, it explores topics including mental health rights at work, making informed and empowering decisions, disclosure and personal boundaries, and practical ways colleagues and
employers can create more supportive and inclusive workplaces.
Beyond practical information and resources, the exhibition featured storytelling, interactive experiences, and creative installations,
inviting visitors to explore the realities, challenges and experiences of entering the workplace.
Encouragement Wall

Visitors were invited to write words of encouragement on colourful sticky notes, creating a growing wall of support, hope and solidarity throughout the exhibition.
Stories from the Workplace

This interactive corner featured real stories about workplace mental health and mental health rights, shared by members of the public and collected by StoryTaler. By turning the capsule machine, visitors could discover one story at a time and reflect on the diverse experiences of navigating work and mental wellbeing.
Reflection Postcards

At the final stop of the exhibition, visitors were invited to choose a postcard designed by the participants
and take a moment to write to themselves.
Some wrote about how they felt after visiting the exhibition. Others wrote messages of encouragement, hopes for their future working lives, or reflections they wished to remember. The activity encouraged self-care while inviting visitors to imagine healthier
and more compassionate workplaces.

Visitors could either take the postcard home as a keepsake or post it to themselves. Three months later,
the postcard would arrive as a reminder of the encouragement, hopes and reflections they had written to themselves.
As a small gift, we'd like to share two postcards designed by our participants. We hope their words accompany and encourage you,
wherever you are on your journey.

Take the Pledge

Visitors were invited to choose one of three commitment cards and make a personal pledge towards creating mentally healthier workplaces. They were also encouraged to share the cards with colleagues, friends and family,
reminding one another that building supportive workplaces is a shared responsibility.
Reflections from the Ambassadors

"This exhibition gives voice to people living with mental health challenges and shares the support they hope to receive from employers and colleagues. I feel that I am advocating on behalf of my community, so that they do not have to face these challenges alone. I hope workplaces will embrace people's diversity, and that together we can build a kinder society." - Juliana
"Some people may feel as though they are walking alone through a thick fog. I hope this exhibition helps them realise that there are countless others walking alongside them, and that together we can create our own rainbow." - Debbie
"Mental Health Right On!" A Workplace Handbook
Beyond the exhibition, the participants also developed the Mental Health Right On! A Workplace Handbook —
a practical resource covering workplace mental health rights, empowerment, and strategies for navigating the workplace.
Designed for people with lived experience of mental health challenges, employers, HR professionals,
and anyone interested in creating mentally healthier workplaces,
the guide offers practical knowledge, tools and reflections to support more informed and compassionate workplaces.
We warmly invite you to read, download and share it.
